Château de Sekijo, Medieval castle ruins in Mino, Japan
The castle includes defensive stone walls, watchtowers, and terraced sub-baileys carved into the mountainside to prevent enemy advances during military conflicts.
Built in 1528 by Nagai Nagahiro, the castle served as a strategic fortification until its fall in 1565 following an alliance betrayal against Oda Nobunaga.
The castle grounds feature an observation platform modeled after a medieval watchtower, preserving the architectural elements of traditional Japanese fortifications.
Visitors can reach the castle site by taking the Nagaragawa Railroad to Seki Station and following an eight-minute walk to the hiking trail.
The main bailey of the castle has been transformed into a shrine, surrounded by a forested park that marks the location of this historical stronghold.
