Hokuyo Senior High School, Combined junior and senior high school in Osaka, Japan
Hokuyo Senior High School is a combined junior and senior high school in Osaka, Japan, that offers a full curriculum for students from seventh grade through graduation. The campus includes multiple buildings with classrooms, laboratories, sports facilities and areas for extracurricular activities.
The school was founded in 1925 and has since educated several generations of students from Osaka. It remained open during the war and postwar period, adapting its programs to the changing needs of the Japanese education system.
The name uses two Chinese characters that refer to the northern part of the region where the campus stands. Many students move between buildings in uniform and use the rooms for sports, music or other groups after lessons end.
The campus sits in a residential area and is best reached by nearby train stations or bus lines. The school is closed to the public during class days, but may be visited during special events or open house days.
The school has maintained a partnership with Kansai University for many decades, allowing some students to continue their studies there without the usual nationwide entrance exams. This link also enables students to attend workshops or lectures on the university campus.
