Takaoka Art Museum

The Takaoka Art Museum displays modern art collections in a contemporary building featuring clean lines, large exhibition spaces, and natural lighting throughout its galleries.

Originally established in 1951, the museum underwent reconstruction in 1994 under architect Shozo Uchii to create a new space for presenting regional artistic heritage.

The museum maintains permanent collections of metal crafts, lacquerware, drawings, and sculptures that represent the artistic traditions of the Takaoka region.

Located 20 minutes on foot from JR Takaoka Station, the museum opens from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM and remains closed on Mondays and during year-end holidays.

The building holds distinction as one of the 100 Best Public Buildings in Japan, reflecting its architectural excellence and contribution to public art spaces.
