Ichihara Lakeside Museum

The Ichihara Lakeside Museum is an art museum at Lake Takataki in Chiba Prefecture featuring curved steel walls and interior passages that blend into the natural surroundings. The building design connects exhibition spaces directly with the lake and the landscape around it.

The museum opened in 2013 as part of Ichihara city's 50th anniversary celebrations, redesigning a previous cultural facility that had operated since 1995. This transformation marked a shift toward presenting contemporary art in the region.

The collection showcases work by Yukio Fukazawa, an artist famous for copperplate art, along with rotating shows of contemporary creations from Japanese and international artists. These selections show how this place has become a center for artistic practice and expression in the area.
