楞厳寺

Riigai-ji sits on the slopes of Mount Kannon and displays traditional Japanese temple architecture with wooden buildings and tiled roofs. The complex comprises several structures with characteristic pitched roofs that are adapted to the mountainous terrain.

The temple was founded during the Edo period and belongs to the Koyasan Shingon school of Buddhism. Despite several natural disasters, the complex has retained its original structural form.

The temple serves as the second station of the Kansai Flower Temple Pilgrimage and draws Buddhist practitioners who gather to meditate and participate in religious ceremonies. Visitors experience an active prayer life that continues throughout the year.

The temple is open to visitors daily from sunrise to sunset. Special viewing sessions of the golden Buddha statue take place on the 17th of each month.

The temple is known for its collection of seasonal flowers and plants and is recognized as one of the notable flower temples in the Kansai region. The blooms attract visitors seeking both spiritual and natural beauty.
