Tekigaisō Park, Historic urban park in Ogikubo, Japan
Tekigaisō Park features gardens and pathways across 7,050 square meters of land, incorporating traditional Japanese design elements within the Suginami district of Tokyo.
The park grounds contained the residence of Prime Minister Konoe Fumimaro, where critical political meetings shaped Japanese policies between 1937 and 1945.
The site received designation as a Historic Site of Japan in 2016, preserving the architectural legacy of Itō Chūta and the political heritage of pre-war Japan.
Visitors reach the park through a 15-minute walk from Ogikubo Station, with current restoration works scheduled for completion in December 2024.
The original residence served as a cultural salon where politicians gathered to make decisions that influenced the course of Japanese involvement in World War II.
