ウェリス稲毛, Residential complex in Inage, Japan
Wellis Inage is a large residential complex in Inage, Chiba, Japan, made up of six buildings spread across three separate areas and totaling 929 housing units. The buildings rise over several floors and offer different apartment layouts to fit a range of household sizes.
The complex was built in 2014 on the former grounds of the Japan Alcohol Industry Corporation. The following year, the project received the Good Design Award for its approach to residential development.
The name Wellis Inage combines the idea of well-being with the local place name, giving the development a welcoming identity. Shared spaces like a lounge and a theater room are open to all residents, making it easy to run into neighbors in everyday life.
The complex is about a six-minute walk from JR Inage Station, making it easy to reach by train. The buildings are designed with barrier-free access throughout, and parking is available on site.
The development includes a convenience store reserved for residents and a barbecue terrace that neighbors can book for outdoor gatherings. This kind of on-site retail within a housing complex is uncommon in Japan.
