The Hirosaki City Museum building, designed by architect Kunio Maekawa, stands within the former castle grounds of Hirosaki Park in Shimoshirogane-chō.
Opening its doors on April 20, 1977, the museum houses eighteen thousand artifacts, including important cultural properties from the Sunazawa archaeological site.
The museum exhibits document the traditions of the Hirosaki region through collections of local festivals, including materials from the Hirosaki Neputa celebrations.
