Ichifusa Dam

Ichifusa Dam is a concrete structure that spans about 260 meters across the river valley and rises about 79 meters high. It holds a large volume of water in the reservoir behind it, covering a broad area of land.

Construction of the dam began in the early 1950s and was completed near the end of that decade. The project was part of regional development efforts to manage water resources.

Cherry blossom trees line the reservoir shores, making this one of the most visited springtime destinations in the region. When they bloom, the white and pink flowers create a special gathering place for locals and travelers.

A visit is best enjoyed in good weather and daylight conditions to fully appreciate the surroundings. Spring is the ideal time to see the cherry blossoms in their full display.

The water that fills this dam comes from a large mountain catchment area surrounding the valley. This system helps supply agricultural fields below with a steady water source throughout the year.
