Nissan Heritage Collection, Automobile museum in Zama, Japan.
The Nissan Heritage Collection is an automobile museum in Zama housing over 450 vehicles from different eras of industrial history. It displays around 300 cars permanently at the facility, located on the grounds of a Nissan manufacturing plant.
The museum began in the 1960s when the Zama plant opened as Nissan's main assembly facility and started as a private exhibition called the Nissan DNA Museum. The collection traces automotive production development over several decades.
The collection reflects how Japanese automakers evolved their vehicles across generations, from Datsun through Prince to Nissan models. Visitors gain insight into what these brands meant to the country's industrial development and manufacturing identity.
Visitors must register through an online system and receive approval before touring the collection. Guided visits last about 80 minutes and allow you to explore the museum in an organized way.
About 70 percent of the vehicles are still in running condition, and some engines are started on weekdays for visitors to experience. This allows guests to hear and feel the historical machines in action, not just view them.
