Sesoko Bridge, Concrete bridge in Motobu, Japan.
Sesoko Bridge is a concrete structure that connects Motobu on Okinawa's main island to the smaller Sesoko Island, spanning about 762 meters across the water. The bridge features a straight, functional design and offers views of the surrounding coastal landscape and waters from its deck.
This bridge was constructed in the 1980s to make the island accessible by vehicle for the first time and to strengthen economic connections between the communities. Its completion in February 1985 significantly changed how people could reach the island.
The bridge links to Sesoko Island, where visitors can see local potters at work and observe traditional crafts being made in small studios. Walking through the island's narrow paths, you notice how everyday objects blend with artistic traditions that communities have maintained for generations.
The location lies about 15 minutes by car from the Churaumi Aquarium, a main reference point for visitors in the region. A small parking area with around 15 spaces sits near the structure, providing easy access to the bridge and the island beyond.
The area beneath the structure shelters a coral reef ecosystem that draws divers and snorkelers interested in exploring marine life. This underwater diversity makes the spot a place where land transport meets the sea environment.
