Kanakurayama Kofun

The keyhole-shaped Kanakurayama Kofun stretches 160 meters in length, featuring a round section of 110 meters in diameter and reaching 15 meters in height.

Archaeological excavations in 1953 revealed two square haniwa precincts at the top of the tomb's round portion, each containing vertical stone burial chambers.

The site contains numerous ceramic figures called haniwa, including representations of shields, quivers, houses, domestic fowl, and dishes from the fourth century.

The burial mound, located at coordinates 34.663803, 133.967764, underwent renewed investigations starting in 2014 for preservation and management by Okayama City.

Kanakurayama Kofun incorporates both tsukuridashi and shimajō features, which are uncommon structural elements in burial mounds of this period.
