Rose Garden, Rose garden in Expo '70 Commemorative Park, Suita, Japan
The Rose Garden within Expo '70 Commemorative Park covers about 6,000 square meters and holds thousands of rose plants with red and pink flowers. These plants come from nine countries and are arranged in structured beds as well as in water basins where individual blooms float on the surface.
The country hosted a major World Exposition in 1970 that took place in Asia for the first time and drew countries from around the globe. The rose garden was created after this event on the grounds and continues to carry the name of this historical exposition.
The garden is called the Rose Garden of Peace and receives special care beginning each May when the flowers reach their full bloom. Visitors can observe how roses grow in varied arrangements throughout the space, with some floating on water surfaces to create colorful patterns.
The garden is located near a major shopping complex and is easily reached by public transportation. Visitors are best served arriving in the morning or afternoon hours when daylight shows off the blooms most clearly.
Many visitors overlook the fact that the blooms come from nine different countries, making this garden a quiet international tribute. This diversity of origin means that strolling through the beds, one encounters varieties from different climates and gardening traditions.
