茨木カンツリー倶楽部, Golf course in Ibaraki, Osaka, Japan
茨木カンツリー倶楽部 is a 36-hole golf course in Ibaraki, in the northern part of the Osaka area. It consists of two separate 18-hole layouts that can be played in different combinations depending on the day.
The course was designed by David Hood and Seiichi Inoue, two figures who shaped golf course design in Japan during the mid-20th century. Over time it became one of the established private clubs in the Kinki region.
The club is known among Japanese golfers for its strict observation of traditional on-course etiquette. Visitors are expected to play quietly and respectfully, which gives the place a tone that feels more formal than many modern golf facilities.
The facility is open for play on select evenings as well as daytime hours, so it is worth checking the schedule in advance. As a private club, access for non-members may be limited and a reservation is generally required.
All greens across both courses are planted with bent grass, a variety less common on Japanese golf courses than elsewhere in the world. This choice gives the greens a rolling quality that players familiar with courses in the US or Europe often find recognizable.
