Former Kameoka Family Home, Important Cultural Property in Date City, Japan
The Former Kameoka Family Home presents a wooden structure with a pale yellow exterior and an eight-sided tower room on the third floor.
The Kameoka family constructed this residence in 1904 during the Meiji period, using profits from their silk manufacturing enterprise in Koori Town.
The interior combines Japanese architectural elements with tatami mat rooms across two floors, featuring detailed woodwork made from Japanese zelkova and Southeast Asian timber.
Located seven minutes from Oizumi Station on the Abukuma Express Line, the house opens daily except Tuesdays from 9:00 to 17:00 with entry fees of 210 yen.
The building contains two specialized first-floor rooms with enhanced decorative elements, including ornate ceiling and wall fixtures in the main living area.
