Damine Kannon

The temple building stands on landscaped grounds with stone pathways, traditional Japanese gardens, and wooden architectural elements characteristic of regional religious structures.

Established in 1470 by Suganuma Sadanobu during the construction of Tamine Castle, the temple merged two Buddhist statues of Kannon into a single religious site.

The temple hosts traditional performing arts, including Tamine Dengaku folk performances and Kabuki theater presentations, recognized as important cultural properties of Japan.

Located at 14 Kajisawa, Tamine, Shitara, the temple offers free parking and requires a two-hour drive from Nagoya via expressway routes.

The temple preserves a Kabuki stage from 1863, where local residents perform annual dedication plays according to a centuries-old promise to maintain the tradition.
