Shitara Town Okumikawa Local Material Museum

The Shitara Town Okumikawa Local Material Museum displays regional artifacts and documents the natural resources utilized in traditional crafts of the Okumikawa region.

Established in March 1977, the museum preserves the heritage of local materials and traditional techniques that shaped the development of the Okumikawa region.

The exhibition halls present collections of tools, crafts, and documentary materials that reflect the relationship between local inhabitants and their natural environment.

Located at Michinoeki Shitara, the museum operates from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closing on Tuesdays and during the New Year period from December 29 to January 3.

The facility includes a preserved wooden railroad car from the former Toyohashi Railway Taguchi Line, which operated in the region until 1968.
