Recruit GINZA8 Binası, Corporate office building in Ginza district, Tokyo, Japan.
Recruit GINZA8 Building is a corporate office tower in Tokyo's Ginza district, clad in blue-tinted glass across eleven floors above ground and three below. The ground floor opens to the public with a gallery space and a cafe sitting side by side.
The building was put up in 1981 to serve as the main headquarters of Recruit, one of Japan's largest personnel and information companies. In 2021, Hulic Corporation bought the property and gave it a new purpose.
The ground floor gallery hosts exhibitions focused on Japanese graphic design and visual communication, open to anyone passing by. The shows change regularly, giving visitors a chance to see how local designers work with image and type.
The building is easy to reach on foot from Shimbashi Station, which is just a short walk away in the Ginza area. The gallery and cafe on the ground floor are free to enter, so dropping in requires no planning.
Cafe G8 sits right next to the gallery on the ground floor, so visitors can move between art and coffee without stepping outside. This makes the ground floor feel more like a neighborhood meeting point than part of a corporate tower.
