小田原市民会館
Odawara Civic Hall was a multi-purpose venue with a large main auditorium seating up to 1400 people, a smaller hall, exhibition spaces, and meeting rooms. Built in 1962 as a steel reinforced concrete structure with six floors, it featured climate control, family-friendly facilities, and accessible restrooms on different levels.
The hall opened in 1962 and served the community for nearly 60 years as a center for local gatherings and performances. It closed in July 2021 when the city opened a new civic hall to provide more modern facilities.
The hall served as a gathering place where local artists and residents shared performances, exhibitions, and celebrations over many decades. It played a key role in keeping the community connected through cultural activities and events.
The hall was located in central Odawara near shops and public facilities, making it easy to reach on foot or by public transport. There was no parking on site, but paid parking lots were available in the surrounding area.
The main hall held 1400 seats and was large enough to host television broadcasts and public recordings, which was unusual for that era. A popular Japanese entertainment program was recorded there multiple times, reaching a wide audience.
