Chiyogasaki Gun Battery

The brick fortification stands on Mount Hiraneyama, featuring multiple gun emplacements and defensive structures overlooking the entrance to Tokyo Bay.

Constructed in February 1895 as part of the Tokyo Bay Fortress network, this military installation protected maritime routes during Japan's Meiji period modernization.

The gun battery represents the transition of Japanese military architecture from traditional fortifications to western-style defensive structures in the late 19th century.

The site opens on weekends and holidays from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM between March and September, with shorter hours from October to February.

Visitors can observe original gun positions and ammunition storage rooms while learning about coastal defense strategies through preserved military structures.
