COEX Aquarium is a public aquarium in South Korea's Gangnam district with around 90 display tanks spread across 14 discovery zones. In total, it houses over 40,000 marine creatures representing around 650 different species.
The aquarium opened in 2000 as part of the Seoul World Trade Center complex. Its opening expanded the area's entertainment options significantly.
The facility displays Korean marine life alongside international species, connecting local ocean ecosystems with sea life from around the world. Visitors encounter both familiar fish and coral from Korean waters and exotic creatures from distant oceans.
Visitors can purchase mobile QR code tickets for direct entry and receive a discount on admission prices. Exploring all the zones can be done at your own pace since the space is easy to navigate independently.
The facility offers special zones where visitors can touch selected marine animals. Professional divers also perform underwater shows that demonstrate life beneath the sea.
