Annunciation Church, Baroque church in Mdina, Malta
The Annunciation Church features an elliptical plan with ornate decorations, sculptures, and paintings by notable artists such as Mattia Preti and Stefano Erardi.
French military engineer Mederico Blondel des Croisettes designed this religious structure, which was constructed between 1660 and 1675 on the site of an older church.
The church houses numerous artworks, including an elaborate wooden frame by Pietro Paolo Troisi and a processional statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel by Andrea Imbroll.
Located on Villegaignon Street, the church maintains regular services including daily Rosary, Holy Mass, and Vespers for the local Carmelite community and visitors.
After the 1693 earthquake damaged the Cathedral, this church served as the temporary Cathedral Chapter until the new Cathedral's consecration in October 1702.
