Mukim Tungku, Rural mukim in Tungku, Malaysia
Mukim Tungku is a rural administrative division in eastern Lahad Datu comprising multiple villages spread from Kampung Bangingod to Kampung Merabung. The region is bordered by the Felda Sahabat settlement area and Darvel Bay.
The area grew into a structured administrative tier below the district level in Sabah's governance framework. This system helped organize the various villages and manage local affairs more effectively.
Several ethnic groups, including Bagahak, Bajau, and Iranun communities, share this area as their home. Islam is the dominant faith, though Christian believers are also present in the villages.
The economy here revolves around small-scale palm oil farming, fishing, and local businesses that employ most residents. Basic services like primary and secondary schools are available, though infrastructure remains typical of rural areas.
This area contains several distinct villages such as Kampung Dengan, Kampung Manar, Kampung Telisai, and Kampung Sri Hak, each with its own local character and history. Exploring these communities reveals different ways of life and traditions that coexist in the same mukim.
