GSIS Building, Government building in Barangay 76, Pasay, Philippines
The GSIS Building in Pasay serves as the main administrative headquarters of the Government Service Insurance System, offering insurance and pension services for civil servants. The structure contains multiple office floors, an eighth-floor cafeteria, and a public art gallery space within its premises.
The building gained significance when the Philippine Senate relocated here in 1997 from its previous location at the Old Congress Building in Manila. This move transformed the structure into an important venue for the country's legislative operations.
The Museo ng Sining inside the building displays Philippine artworks through rotating exhibitions open to the public. Visitors can spend time viewing local artistic pieces in the galleries located within the structure.
The cafeteria on the eighth floor offers affordable meals for visitors and staff members. Arriving before 8 AM is advisable to secure a parking spot, as spaces fill up quickly during business hours.
The building has hosted continuous monthly rental payments since 1996 that accumulated to over 2 billion pesos over the decades. This financial commitment to house the legislative branch is a lesser-known aspect of the country's budget history.
