APEC Sculpture Garden, Sculpture garden at Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay, Philippines
The APEC Sculpture Garden is an outdoor display of around 20 permanent artworks positioned across landscaped grounds alongside the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay. The sculptures are arranged to create a cohesive space where visitors can walk among works from different countries.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts established this garden in November 1996 during preparations for the APEC Philippines summit meeting. The project was created to mark this significant regional economic gathering.
Artists from APEC member economies created sculptures that reflect their national identities through different materials and artistic approaches. The works demonstrate how various cultures express their creativity and artistic traditions in a shared space.
The garden is accessible through Vicente Sotto Street within the Cultural Center Complex and can be explored on foot. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since visitors move across landscaped grounds.
Nearly all APEC economies are represented by an artwork in the collection, except Peru which did not contribute a sculpture. This detail makes the garden a reflection of the diplomatic partnerships that existed at the time.
