Bavaniste is a Serbian Orthodox monastery featuring a central church dedicated to the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos. The grounds include monastic buildings arranged around the church, creating a compact spiritual complex.

By local tradition the monastery dates from the late 16th century and is mentioned in the records of the Peć Patriarchate. It stood hidden in forest until 1716, when it was burned and destroyed along with the village. The present chapel, dedicated to the Nativity of the Theotokos, was built in 1857; the monastery was formally renewed by a decision of 4 December 1996.

The monastery serves as a spiritual center where monks perform daily services and maintain Orthodox traditions that shape the local faith community. The icons displayed inside the church represent centuries of religious devotion passed down through generations.

The monastery is accessible to visitors who may observe daily prayer services held by the monks. The grounds offer a small shop where religious items and materials are available for those interested in purchasing them.

The chapel at the site, known locally as Vodica, was built in 1857 and houses a spring that rises inside the church. Villagers long came to pray and wash with this water, and a plaque from the altar records the chapel's construction under commander Adolf Eihberger.
