Beočin monastery, Serbian Orthodox monastery in Fruška Gora, Serbia
Beočin monastery is a Serbian Orthodox monastic complex located on the northern slope of Fruška Gora mountain, situated between two forested hills. The site features a main church building and an attached bell tower that form the central religious structures.
The monastery first appeared in written records during the Ottoman period in the 16th century, with the present church constructed during the 1730s. The bell tower was added several decades later as an architectural addition to the complex.
The church interior contains an ornate Baroque iconostasis decorated with paintings by Serbian artists, filling the space with religious artwork. Visitors can observe the craftsmanship and spiritual meaning of these artistic works displayed throughout the chapel.
The site is easy to explore on foot since the main buildings are arranged compactly and accessible via woodland paths. Comfortable shoes are recommended, and visitors should allow time to walk through the grounds and take in the surroundings.
The grounds contain a park with classical design elements that were laid out around 150 years ago by French gardeners. This features a central fountain and water pool that give the site an organized and refined appearance.
