Park Republika Srpska, Public park in New Belgrade, Serbia
Park Republika Srpska stretches between Brodarska Street and Savski nasip in New Belgrade across 7 hectares. A 1-kilometer promenade runs along the Sava River's left bank, while basketball courts, a cycling track, and walking paths crisscross the grounds.
The space was called Park of the Non-aligned until 2008, when a restoration project led by Serbian and Republika Srpska leaders transformed it. This overhaul marked a turning point in its development and role in the neighborhood.
Japanese cherry trees planted in 2020 by the Japanese Business Alliance stand arranged in Olympic rings throughout the space. Visitors can see this blooming symbol that marks the connection between the city and the Tokyo Games.
The grounds offer spaces for basketball and cycling, with easy access to walking routes along the river. The flat terrain and riverside promenade make it straightforward to navigate, with plenty of room for different kinds of outdoor activity.
The grounds contain rare tree species not commonly seen in Serbia, such as ginkgo biloba, giant sequoia, red beech, corkscrew willow, and yellow beech. This botanical diversity gives the park a distinctly different character from other local green spaces.
