Vosstaniya Square, Regional heritage square in Taganrog, Russia
Vosstaniya Square occupies a central position between Frunze Street, Smirnovsky Lane, Oktyabrskaya Street, and the Railway Station facade in Taganrog.
The square transformed from a cattle pasture into an urban center following the construction of the railway system in the 1860s.
In 1935, the square received its current name to commemorate the armed uprising of January 1918, replacing its previous designation as Fair Square.
The square functions as a transportation hub, connecting multiple streets and providing access to the railway station for travelers and residents.
Brothers Alexander and Anton Chekhov operated a trading stall during summer 1873 in this location, when the square served as a marketplace.
