Chapel of Our Lady of Kazan, Taganrog, Orthodox chapel in Taganrog, Russia.
The Chapel of Our Lady of Kazan is an Orthodox church building located opposite the Old Train Station near Rebellion Square. The structure features traditional Orthodox architectural elements with ornamental roof work and detailed bas-relief decorations on its exterior walls.
The original structure was built in 1908 to commemorate the birth of Grand Duke Alexei Nikolaevich, an important member of the imperial family. It was destroyed in the 1920s, and the current chapel was reconstructed on the same site in 2012.
The chapel displays traditional Orthodox craftsmanship, with an iconostasis created by Palekh artisans and colored glass windows by local artists. These decorations create a space where visitors can observe active religious practice and devotion.
The chapel is accessible by multiple public transportation routes and is within walking distance of other city landmarks. Visits can be arranged around regular Orthodox services held according to the Russian Orthodox calendar.
The chapel was consecrated on a date that coincided with an important anniversary connected to the city's religious heritage. This timing linked the building's restoration to the commemoration of a significant local spiritual figure.
