Memorable sign Barrier

Memorable Sign Barrier is a tall stele topped with a metal sphere located at the intersection of Petrovskaya and Dzerzhinsky Streets. The structure replaces an original gateway that once monitored goods and people entering the city.

The original structure was built in 1814 to commemorate Napoleon's defeat and consisted of two columns topped with pyramidal shapes and copper spheres. The current reconstruction honors this important moment in Taganrog's past.

The reconstructed monument marks the location where goods and travelers were historically checked before entering the city proper. Visitors can see how this spot once served as a practical point of control in the city's daily commerce and movement.

The monument is located at a central intersection and is easy to reach on foot without special arrangements. The area offers clear surroundings and serves well as a starting point for exploring the old city on foot.

The metal sphere atop the stele was manufactured by a local defense plant called Red Hydropress, linking industrial heritage with historical preservation. This detail shows how modern craftsmanship kept a historical symbol alive.
