Щёлковский путепровод, Bridge in eastern Moscow, Russia
The Shchelkovsky Overpass is a bridge in eastern Moscow that carries traffic across railway tracks and connects different neighborhoods. It features eight lanes supported by four intermediate pylons that give the structure its distinctive appearance.
Construction began in the 1960s and the overpass opened in 1969 to handle growing traffic in an expanding Moscow. It replaced an earlier two-lane structure and became part of the city's modern transportation network development.
The Shchelkovsky Overpass design by engineer V.N. Konstantinov and architect K.N. Yakovlev reflects the Soviet transportation infrastructure development period.
The overpass is well connected by metro, located within walking distance of Cherkizovskaya station. Visitors should note that this is a busy traffic area, so early morning or late evening hours offer the best conditions for viewing or photographing.
The structure once supported trolleybus overhead lines for decades until they were removed in 2020, changing its appearance. This technical history shows how Moscow's transportation system evolved over time.
