Скоморохова гора

Skomorochova Hill is a gentle elevation in central Rybinsk surrounded by residential buildings that spread across its slopes. A monument to the TU-104A aircraft stands at its highest point as the main focal point of the area.

The area began as Khomutovskaya settlement in the late 1800s, built to house railway and factory workers. Its growth reflected the industrial expansion that was transforming the Rybinsk region during that era.

The hill takes its name from skomorokhs, traditional street performers who gathered here during Maslenitsa celebrations in earlier times. This connection to folk festivities shows how the place served as a meeting point for local entertainment and seasonal gatherings.

The neighborhood contains several schools, kindergartens, and an educational institution branch that shape its daily rhythm. Visitors will notice that activity levels shift noticeably during school hours and quieter periods throughout the day.

The neighborhood features distinctive panel buildings constructed using a design pattern developed only for Rybinsk. This specific architectural style sets it apart from similar residential areas in other Russian cities.
