Park Strelka, Urban park at rivers Volga and Kotorosl confluence, Yaroslavl, Russia
Park Strelka is an urban park located where the Volga and Kotorosl Rivers meet in Yaroslavl, spreading across several hectares with wide pathways. The grounds include flower beds, seating areas, and a viewing platform that looks out over the Volga River and Damiansky Island.
The park began to take shape in the 1820s on the grounds where a cathedral square once stood and underwent major changes during the 1960s. It received a complete renovation in 2010 to mark the city's millennium celebration, creating the layout visitors see today.
The main promenade features a large flower arrangement shaped like Yaroslavl's coat of arms, which connects visitors to the city's identity and local pride. People gather here to walk and sit, making it a space where the city's character is visible and felt.
The park is easy to reach on foot and has wide, flat paths that are comfortable for walking. Multiple entrances and benches are spread throughout, allowing visitors to choose different routes depending on how much time they have.
As evening falls, three synchronized fountains come to life with water displays that move in time with lights and music. These nightly performances add a dynamic element that many first-time visitors are surprised to discover.
