Akhmad Kadyrov Bridge, Road bridge in Krasnoselsky District, Saint Petersburg, Russia
The Akhmad Kadyrov Bridge crosses the Dudergofsky Canal in the southwestern part of the city and carries eight traffic lanes across a total length of around 151 meters. The structure forms an important traffic route between the Baltic Pearl residential area and the neighboring districts.
Construction work started in spring 2013 under the direction of Baltic Pearl company and Lenmostostroy Trust. The opening took place in May 2016, just weeks before the official naming.
After the naming in June 2016, several members of the city's naming commission left their posts. The decision triggered ongoing debates among residents and officials throughout the city.
The crossing remains open around the clock for motorized traffic and connects Prospekt Geroev with the western outskirts. Pedestrians find sidewalks along the sides that allow safe passage.
The construction rests on three spans with steel-reinforced concrete beams. A wide median island of five meters physically separates the opposing traffic directions.
