Yuzhno-Primorsky Park, Public park in Krasnoselsky District, Saint Petersburg, Russia
Yuzhno-Primorsky Park is a large green space in the Krasnoselsky District along the Gulf coast that spans over 160 hectares with walking paths, sports grounds, and open natural areas. The layout stretches from the water inland and connects open fields with groves of trees and paved walkways.
The park was created in 1960 when factory workers transformed swampy coastal land into a recreational area through organized effort. A central memorial from that founding period still marks the site and reflects the original purpose behind its establishment.
The park's name refers to the southern maritime region nearby, and locals use it as a gathering place where people walk, exercise, and meet with family. Different zones cater to various activities, making it a social space throughout the day and seasons.
The park has designated sports grounds, children's areas, and exercise stations spread across its territory and is easily reached by public transportation. Visitors can walk freely through the different zones to find what suits their interests.
A restored fountain near the main entrance displays the colors of the Russian flag through its lighting system. The light display is particularly visible in the evening hours and was rebuilt based on designs from earlier times.
