Мокрушинская пещера, Natural cave in Olginsky District, Russia
Mokrushinskaya Cave is a natural cave system in Olginsky District featuring multiple interconnected levels with chambers and passages throughout. The cave contains underground lakes and reaches considerable depths within the surrounding rock formations.
Local villagers from Boguslavka discovered the cave in 1907, sparking scientific interest in the site. Researchers conducted systematic expeditions between 1908 and 1909 to map and study the underground system.
The cave gained national recognition through a 1984 documentary film produced by Daltelevision studio titled 'I Will Give You Zaozerie'.
The entrance sits well above the nearby stream level, requiring appropriate preparation for accessing the cave system. Plan for varying ground conditions and moisture levels throughout the different sections of the cave.
The underground lakes within the cave system host specialized fauna adapted to living in complete darkness. These rare organisms make the site valuable for studying cave ecosystems in Far Eastern Russia.
