Каменский мостовой переход, Vertical lift bridge in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Russia
The vertical lift bridge spans 1050 meters across the Seversky Donets River, connecting central Kamensk-Shakhtinsky with the Zavodskoy district and Krasnovka village.
The original bridge, constructed in 1868 during the Voronezh-Rostov railway development, operated as a single-track railway crossing until World War II began.
The bridge opening ceremony in December 2019 included placing a time capsule containing messages for future generations, scheduled for opening in December 2069.
The central span elevates 5-6 meters to allow large vessels passage through the Seversky Donets River, maintaining both road and water transportation needs.
The structure replaced a temporary pontoon crossing after local residents petitioned the Russian President, leading to construction of this modern transportation link.
