The Military History Museum in Aksay is a collection of nearly 70,000 objects spanning different time periods and subjects. It holds archaeological finds, ancient coins, documents, photographs, and examples of local craftsmanship from the region.

The museum started in 1948 as a school collection at Aksay Secondary School Number 1 under the direction of Alexander Nikolaevich Skripov. Over time this collection grew and eventually developed into a significant institution for preserving regional history.

The museum grounds preserve a historic Cossack homestead with traditional dwellings and everyday objects that show how people lived in the region. Walking through these reconstructed spaces gives visitors a direct sense of daily life from another era.

The museum is located in the town of Aksay and is easy to reach from various directions. The visit works best when you allow time to explore the different exhibition areas and the outdoor grounds at your own pace.

Underground tunnels from the 18th-century customs post now serve as an exhibition space dedicated to the history of customs operations in the Lower Don region. These subterranean passages offer an unusual and immersive way to learn about this specific historical chapter.
