Aksay dungeons, Underground complex in Aksay, Russia
The underground complex includes eight main tunnels stretching from west to east, three transverse passages, and numerous smaller chambers across multiple levels.
The first records of these underground structures date back to the time of Peter the Great, when Turkish prisoners were used for tunnel construction.
The tunnels now house exhibitions of the Military History Museum complex, including customs outpost underground chambers and ancient settlement catacombs.
The underground network extends over one kilometer in length, with tunnels measuring approximately 2 to 2.5 meters in height and featuring concrete-reinforced walls.
Some sections of the underground complex contain water-filled chambers, creating subterranean pools within the ancient tunnel system.
