Military exibition, Aksai, Military history museum in Aksai, Russia.
The Military Exhibition in Aksai is a complex with vehicles, aircraft, and artillery pieces displayed outdoors, along with several thematic sections. The site includes historical structures from different periods and an underground facility.
The site was originally a Soviet command post built in the 1960s during the Cold War. Later, the bunker complex was converted into an exhibition to showcase the military history of the region.
The exhibition displays weapons and equipment used across different periods, allowing visitors to understand how military technology evolved in this region. The objects shown reflect the role of this area in Russia's military history.
The complex has several areas to explore, from outdoor displays to underground rooms, so plan for adequate time. Comfortable shoes are advisable since there are uneven surfaces and different weather conditions to consider depending on the season.
The underground area was an actual command center for the North Caucasus Military District with original Cold War equipment still in place. The multi-level tunnels show how Soviet forces monitored operations during that tense period.
