One Marina Boulevard, International Style skyscraper in Downtown Core, Singapore
One Marina Boulevard is a 32-story glass-clad office tower at the edge of Marina Bay in Singapore's Downtown Core district. The ground floor opens into a retail podium that links directly to an underground mall connecting the building to the wider financial district.
The tower was completed in 2004, making it one of the first major buildings to rise in what was then a newly designated financial zone around Marina Bay. Its construction marked the start of a long transformation of former harbor land into the business district seen today.
One Marina Boulevard is home to the National Trades Union Congress of Singapore, giving it a role that stands apart from the purely commercial towers nearby. Walking through the ground floor, visitors notice a steady flow of office workers passing between the indoor mall and the waterfront promenade.
The building connects directly to Raffles Place MRT station through an underground pedestrian link, so arriving on foot from the train is straightforward in any weather. Those wanting to see the waterfront side of the tower should walk along the bay promenade just outside.
Thanks to advanced fire engineering solutions developed specifically for this project, the tower was built closer to neighboring structures than standard safety codes at the time would normally allow. This approach influenced how later high-rise buildings in Singapore were planned and approved.
