Bedok Jetty, Jetty and pier in East Coast Park, Singapore

Bedok Jetty is a concrete pier on the coast of East Coast Park, in the eastern part of Singapore. It extends a long way over the water and is open both to fishers and to anyone who wants to walk out over the sea.

The jetty was originally part of a MINDEF facility and was not open to the public for many years. In 1975, it was used to receive refugees arriving from Saigon, and it was later opened for general use while still remaining within a military base.

The jetty is a well-known spot among local fishers, who come in the early morning or at dusk and line up along the railing with their rods. Fishing here has been a community habit for generations and remains an active part of daily life in this part of Singapore.

The jetty sits inside East Coast Park and can be reached on foot from Parking Area F1 or by taking a bus from Bedok MRT Station. Early morning or late afternoon tends to be cooler and less busy than midday.

Even though the jetty is open to the public, it still sits within an active military base, making it one of the rare spots in Singapore where visitors and defense infrastructure share the same space. From the far end, planes on approach to Changi Airport fly low overhead, giving a clear view of the flight path.
