Mueang Khon Kaen

Mueang Khon Kaen is the central administrative district of Khon Kaen province in northeastern Thailand. It encompasses several sub-districts and villages that together form a mixed urban and rural area.

The area underwent a name change to Phra Lap in 1917 before receiving its current designation in 1937. These shifts reflect the administrative reorganizations that have shaped the region.

The district maintains traditional Thai administrative structures through its tambon system, where local communities organize themselves into sub-districts for governance purposes.
