Phon, Administrative district in Khon Kaen, Thailand.
Phon is an administrative district in the southern part of Khon Kaen province, made up of several subdistricts and villages spread across agricultural terrain. The landscape is dominated by rice fields and farmland, with residential areas clustered around smaller settlements.
The district developed over time from smaller administrative units and is now organized into villages, each maintaining its own local structures. This gradual growth reflects how rural communities in the region have expanded and established their governance.
The district consists of multiple tambons including Mueang Phon, Chot Nong Kae, and Kao Ngio, where residents maintain traditional Thai community practices.
The district spreads across relatively flat to gently rolling terrain and is best visited during the dry season when farm roads are in good condition. Keep in mind this is a rural area where infrastructure is limited and distances between settlements can be considerable.
The district sits at an elevation of 170 meters above sea level and shares borders with multiple regions including Waeng Noi and Nakhon Ratchasima province.
