Phu Wua Wildlife Sanctuary, Wildlife refuge in Bueng Kan Province, Thailand
The sanctuary spans 186.5 square kilometers across Seka and Bung Khla districts, featuring forested hills along the Mekong River with elevations from 160 to 448 meters.
The Thai Forestry Department completed their survey in 1974 following disruptions from communist insurgency, leading to official establishment through royal decree in May 1975.
The sanctuary maintains partnerships with nearby communities, integrating local practices into conservation strategies while preserving both natural and community resources.
Visitors can access designated observation points throughout the sanctuary to witness diverse wildlife including elephants, tigers, leopards, bears, pheasants, monkeys, and gibbons.
The sanctuary contains multiple waterfalls, including Namtok Chet Si, which creates rainbow effects when sunlight interacts with water cascading down sandstone cliffs.
