St Symeon, Archaeological site in Antakya, Turkey
The remains of Saint Symeon monastery include ancient structures, a visitor center, and a viewing terrace overlooking the Sammandag region.
The monastery dates back to early Christian times and served as a religious center before its destruction in 1017 CE.
The complex functioned as a pilgrimage destination with a cruciform Martyrium, monastery buildings, and service facilities for religious visitors.
The site features a paved access road, public restrooms, and maintains security personnel to ensure visitor safety and site preservation.
Three separate monasteries existed within the sanctuary grounds, accompanied by a large mill that supported the resident religious community.
