Hazzi, Sacred mountain in Yayladağı, Turkey and Syria.

Mount Hazzi rises 1,717 meters from a narrow coastal plain near the Mediterranean Sea, forming a natural border between Turkey and Syria.

Ancient Canaanite texts from Ugarit reveal that residents considered this limestone mountain the residence of their storm god Baʿal during the Bronze Age.

The mountain served as a worship site for multiple civilizations, with Hurrians, Hittites, and Greeks incorporating it into their religious practices through different names.

Military restrictions limit access to certain parts of the mountain due to its position on the Turkish-Syrian border near the Orontes River mouth.

A substantial mound of ashes and debris remains on the mountain from centuries of ritual sacrifices performed by ancient kings and emperors.
