Ras Ibn Hani

Ras Ibn Hani is an ancient settlement on the Mediterranean coast north of Latakia with remains spanning multiple periods. The site contains ruins of residential buildings, harbor structures, and fortifications built over several centuries.

The area was an important harbor during the Late Bronze Age for the Kingdom of Ugarit, serving trade and communication. In later times a fortification was built showing how the region maintained its strategic importance.

The place shows traces of ancient seaside life where people from different backgrounds came together. You can still observe how residents used the harbor and built their homes within view of the water.

The place sits along the coast with views of the sea while the ground is uneven and partly overgrown. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and take time to explore different areas and observe the landscape.

The harbor area had natural conditions that ancient scholars considered especially favorable for ships. This natural advantage made the place attractive to sailors and merchants across centuries.
