Description
Aleika Castle is a fortress in Syria built with two concentric defensive walls made of limestone blocks positioned on an elevated location. The structure commands views of the surrounding terrain from its strategic height.
History
The fortress was first inhabited by Kurdish troops under Mirdasid rule before passing to the Knights Hospitaller in the 12th century. These Crusaders rebuilt the walls and transformed it into a military stronghold.

Archaeological excavations at the castle site revealed cemetery stones with Latin inscriptions, indicating the presence of different civilizations throughout its history.
